Greenlight Biosciences has hired Thomas Crampton as senior VP for corporate affairs.

Reporting to GreenLight CEO co-founder Andrey Zarur, Crampton will oversee marketing, communications, and government affairs.

He joins the Medford, MA-based company from The Commons Project Foundation, where he was chief marketing and communications officer.

Crampton worked on its CommonTrust Network collaboration with the World Economic Forum and Vaccination Credential Initiative to accelerate people’s ability to access their COVID-19 test and vaccination records.

Earlier, he was global chair, digital at Edelman, and global managing director at Social@Ogilvy. He has counseled MSD Merck, Philips, McKinsey, Nestle and Samsung.

GreenLight focuses on RNA research, design and manufacturing for human, animal, and plant health.

Charles Cooney, GreenLight chair, said recent regulatory approvals have moved RNA vaccines from scientific theory to medical reality, making them a tool to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

He expects Crampton’s strategic experience, global outlook and leadership skills will help scale GreenLight’s ambition to match the transformative potential for RNA across life sciences, agriculture and beyond.”
