Meridith Webster, special assistant to president Biden and chief of staff at the Domestic Policy Council, will join Estēe Lauder Cos. in the newly created executive VP, global communications and PA post on May 17.
She will succeed Alexandra Trower as global communications chief and Maria Cristina Gonzalez Noguera as PA head.
Trower plans to retire in June, while Noguera is taking the executive VP, chief communications and PA officer job at Popular Inc., the Puerto Rico-based financial services giant.
Webster also worked in the Obama White House as senior advisor to chief of staffs, Rahm Emanuel and Pete Rouse. She also was deputy chief of staff to US ambassador to the UN Susan Rice.
Before joining Biden's staff, Webster was chief communications officer at Vox Media, PA lead at the Emerson Collective and global head of PA at Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
At Estēe Lauder, she will work to enhance the company’s global corporate reputation, strengthen ties with key stakeholders and advise the executive team and Lauder family.
Webster will report to William Lauder, executive chairman, and Fabrizio Freda, president/CEO.

Senior-most communications executives in the Fortune 500 earned between $50,000 and $100,000 more this year than they did two years ago, according to a recent survey of chief communications officers.

The pressure is on PR pros to make sure corporate messaging remains clear and cohesive. Business jargon is an obstacle to achieving this goal.
In today's volatile world of constant disruption, the ability to offer reliability and dependability is more valuable than ever.
