Major League Baseball hires Karin Timpone as the league’s chief marketing officer. Timpone previously served as global marketing officer at Marriott International and senior vice president, digital media at The Walt Disney Co. In her new post, she will lead MLB’s global marketing efforts and work with league executives across its revenue, product and operations units as well as collaborating with each of the MLB’s teams. Timpone also will oversee MLB events and design services departments. “Karin’s background at the cross-section of entertainment, media, digital, and marketing is a perfect fit to help deepen the connection MLB has with its fans while growing our fan base both domestically and internationally,” said MLB chief operations and strategy officer Chris Marinak.

TV One names Nyree Wright senior vice president of public relations. Wright was previously an executive vice president at Porter Novelli and senior vice president at MSLGROUP. Most recently, she was a PR lecturer at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. At TV One, Wright will develop and provide direction for the full scope of TV One and CLEO TV public relations strategies including corporate communications, program publicity, media/talent relations, public affairs, social media, viewer services and investor relations. Launched in January 2004, TV One serves 59 million households. It is owned by Urban One, Inc., formerly known as Radio One, Inc., the largest African-American owned multi-media company primarily targeting Black and urban audiences.

Corel Corporation, a Canadian software company, appoints Michelle Chiantera chief marketing officer. Chiantera joins Corel after more than two decades at Cisco, where she most recently served as vice president of Americas growth marketing and global partner, segments and industries. At Corel, she leads the company’s marketing strategy and execution worldwide. “Michelle shares our passion for driving change and has an impressive track record of empowering employee, partner and customer success,” said Corel CEO Christa Quarles. “As our new CMO, she will play a pivotal role in how we share our vision and connect with customers worldwide.”
