Finsbury Glover Hering handles German media giant Axel Springer’s acquisition of Politico from Robert Allbritton.
Axel Springer also is acquiring the remaining 50 percent stake in Politico Europe and tech website Protocol.
Mathias Dopfner, CEO of Axel Springer, said Politico “disrupted digital political journalism and set new standards.”
He called it a “privilege and a special responsibility to shape the future of this outstanding media company.”
Launched in 2007, Politico has more than 500 journalists. Allbritton will remain its publisher.
Axel Springer also owns Insider and Morning Brew.
