Huntington Ingalls Industries, shipbuilder for the US Navy, has named Brooke Hart executive VP-communications, effective Sept. 27.
She succeeds Jerri Dickseski, who is retiring after more than 30 years of service.
Hart will assume media relations, executive communications, crisis management, special events, social media, branding and corporate image work.
She joins the Newport News, VA-based operation from aerospace/defense contractor Sierra Nevada. She also worked at Pew Charitable Trusts and as a journalist for NBC News.
Based in DC, Hart will report to Mike Petters, CEO.
HII has built more than 70 percent of the Navy’s surface fleet and is the sole supplier of aircraft carriers.
Its Newport News shipyard is the No. 1 manufacturing employer in Virginia with 26K workers, while Ingalls Shipbuilding, situated on the Pascagoula River, ranks as Mississippi’s biggest industrial employer with 11,500 people.
