Mspark ad agency recruits Steve Templeton as VP of marketing. Templeton comes to Mspark from growth equity investment firm CATO Advisors, where he was head of market development and VP of sales and marketing. He was previously group director, sales and marketing strategy at Gannett and national VP, sales and marketing at the Los Angeles Times. At Mspark, Templeton is responsible for marketing functions, including go-to-market strategy, demand generation, and digital and social engagement. "I am excited to have someone with Steve’s broad range of experience in our industry to drive our marketing strategy and lead our team moving forward,” said Mspark chief customer officer Brian Blackman.
Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange hires Kate Rouch, former global head of brand and product at Facebook, to serve as chief marketing officer. Rouch had been with Facebook since 2010, and her marketing teams won awards including two Silver Lions at Cannes. In her new position, Rouch will be responsible for all of Coinbase’s global brand, product and performance marketing efforts. “Kate’s experience at a company with the scale and impact of Facebook will be invaluable as we continue building our brand, growing our teams and working to bring millions more people into the cryptoeconomy,” said Coinbase chief operating officer Emilie Choi.

Prior to joining MGE, Christie served as the chief content officer of Queens.gg, a female-led gaming lifestyle company. Smith Publicity names Janet Shapiro VP of publicity. Shapiro has been with the agency since 2009, most recently serving as director of publicity services. As VP of publicity, she will work on campaign strategy as well as continuing to design and help implement new service offerings.
