Weier was at FGH (then the Glover Park Group) from 2010 to 2016 and re-joins the firm after spending six years at Kaiser Permanente. At Kaiser, spent the last 18 months with its community health team, leading advocacy and coalition-building and overseeing several of the organization’s COVID-19 response efforts. He has also managed strategic communications for Avalere Health, a Washington-based consulting firm focused on health policy and business. “Scott brings an extensive understanding of the health care sector and health communications and will be a tremendous asset to our team and growing roster of clients,” said FGH partner Kim James

Walker Sands names Annie Gudorf managing director in its Seattle office and promotes Rachel Fukaya to vice president of public relations. Gudorf, who was the firm’s first employee in Seattle, has been with Walker Sands since 2013 and became vice president of public relations in 2019. In her new post, she will oversee operations in Seattle, including growing and engaging the team. Fukaya joined Walker Sands in 2018, and previously worked at SEEVA Technologies, Barokas Communications and famaPR. She will continue to serve as strategic PR counsel for her clients, while also growing the PR department through employee and client development. “Annie has been spearheading this team from the beginning and I am looking forward to seeing the continued innovation and impact she and Rachel will have on our operations," said Walker Sands CEO Mike Santoro.

Powerhouse Communications hires Kevin Twer as executive vice president, a new position at the firm. Twer was previously a partner at HKA, Inc. Marketing Communications. He has also worked at Ruder Finn, Hill+Knowlton Strategies and PainePR. Cornerstone Government Affairs has named Ross Giesinger, who was policy advisor to the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, as a principal in its Austin office. It has also hired Chris Carpenter, longtime Georgian government affairs professional and campaign manager, as principal in its Atlanta office. Giesinger was previously a senior policy advisor to Dade Phelan, speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. Carpenter most recently served as a partner with the with the Garrett McNatt Hennessey & Carpenter 360 team in Atlanta. “They have defined their careers by being the adults in the room and we look forward to having their insight, expertise and relationships working on behalf of Cornerstone’s clients,” said Cornerstone managing director Campbell Kaufman.
