Ruder Finn has acquired Mantis, a British medtech company that targets companies operating in the public sector.
Mantis has a dozen staffers who counsel 23 clients, 85 percent of which work with the National Health Service, social care providers and private healthcare sectors.
Eleanor Willock, managing director at Mantis, said her firm brings “the stories of life-changing technology powering public services to industry and consumer attention.”
Ruder Finn has momentum in the medtech space and has been looking for the right partner to take it to the next level, according to Nick Leonard, UK MD at the independent shop.
“Many agencies claim to target the MedTech space but very few will have the clinical and technical credentials and capabilities of our combined proposition,” he added.
Ruder Finn ranks No. 6 in O’Dwyer’s rankings of independent PR firms with 2020 fees of $87.8M.


Columbus-based Geben Communications has acquired New York’s LBR/PR, which handles professional services, consumer products, luxury and health/wellness clients.
FINN Partners has acquired Honner, a 25-member Sydney shop that serves the financial communications and corporate sectors. The move bolsters FINN’s APAC team to about 250 members.
Public Policy Holding Company has acquired London-based Tancredi Intelligent Communication for $10.8M, of which $9.6M is in cash and the balance in stock.
Infinite has acquired Greentarget UK B2B communications shop, a move that doubles its footprint in the London market.
Accenture has acquired Whalar, which had billed itself as the “world’s leading independent creator and social agency,” from Whalar Group.
