Scholastic, the children's publishing, education and media company, appoints Mary Beech to the newly created role of chief marketing & transformation officer, effective Jan. 1. Beech has most recently served as CEO of Sarah Flint, a direct-to-consumer luxury footwear brand for women. She was previously principal at MRB Brand Consulting, and she has served as executive vice president and CMO of Kate Spade New York as well as senior vice president, global licensing and marketing for Disney/Pixar Animation. She has also been an independent director on Scholastic's board since 2018 and will resign from that position in advance of her new position. Beech will be charged with creating greater customer-centricity, data-driven activations with a focus on digital and connectivity throughout Scholastic. "She is a passionate leader who has proven her marketing and transformational strength through her work with powerful brands," said Scholastic CEO and president Peter Warwick.

Enterprise workflow solutions provider Onit brings on Neil Wu Becker as chief marketing officer. Wu Becker comes to the company from financial regulatory compliance and security company Behavox, where he was also CMO. His previous posts include vice president of worldwide marketing at Apttus, head of global PR at Micron Technology and director of public relations at Cisco. At Onit, Wu Becker will lead all aspects of marketing for the company and its subsidiaries, including developing and executing strategy to grow the company. "Neil's addition as CMO signals the next evolution of Onit's growth," said Onit CEO and co-founder Eric M. Elfman.

Navy Pier, a Chicago tourist attraction, names Amanda Willard vice president of marketing and communications. Willard was most recently a marketing and brand consultant for Willard Brand Consulting. She was previously vice president of marketing and brand for TeeOff (the official tee time site of the PGA Tour) and vice president of brand, marketing and communications for Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo. In her new role, Willard will lead marketing, branding and communications efforts to attract more locals and tourists to Navy Pier. "With her strategic marketing experience, results-driven leadership skills, and ability to inspire creativity, Amanda will be a key player in showcasing Navy Pier as one of Chicago's top cultural destinations," said Navy Pier president and CEO Marilynn Gardner.
