WPP has acquired Village Marketing, a top influencer marketing shop headquartered in Manhattan.
Launched in 2013 by Vickie Segar, Village Marketing has 150 professionals who have worked for clients such as Nike, Spotify, Netflix, Harry’s, SoulCycle and Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
WPP CEO Mark Read expects Village Marketing to help “some of the world’s leading brands use influencer content alongside performance marketing strategies to drive results.”
Segar believes the creator economy and influencer marketing have long been widely misunderstood and undervalued.
“This acquisition is a massive opportunity for us to leverage the expertise of a global leader to both turbocharge our investment in the creator economy and integrate influencer marketing into the broader marketing ecosystem,” she said.
Village Marketing will become part of the Wunderman Thompson network.
