Netflix names Marian Lee chief marketing officer. Lee joined Netflix in July 2021 as vice president of marketing for the US and Canada. Before that, she was vice president and global co-head of music at Spotify, director of marketing at J.Crew and held several executive positions at Condé Nast. Lee succeeds Bozoma Saint John, who came to Netflix in 2020 after serving in top marketing positions at Endeavor, Uber, Apple and PepsiCo. “Marian is a strategic marketer with deep experience not just in entertainment but also more broadly having worked at fashion and media brands,” said Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “When she joined Netflix last year, she had an immediate impact on the marketing.”

Muck Rack hires former New York Times executive director, corporate communications Linda Zebian as director of communications, a newly created role. Zebian was most recently a freelance communications advisor at the Times. Before joining the paper in 2011, she worked in the communications department at Consumer Reports. In her new post, Zebian will set communications strategy for Muck Rack, including messaging, issues management, media relations and employee communications. “Linda’s deep knowledge of strategic communications and unique experience working closely with journalists throughout her career aligns perfectly with Muck Rack’s mission and vision,” said Muck Rack CEO and co-founder Greg Galant. The company hired 65 employees in 2021, bringing its headcount to 150, and plans to add more than 100 more to its fully remote staff in 2022.

United Talent Agency brings on former Netflix vice president communications Richard Siklos as chief communications officer and a partner in the firm. Before joining Netflix, Siklos was a vice president at Time Warner, and earlier in his career held editorial positions at Fortune and the New York Times. He will be based in UTA’s Los Angeles office, reporting to chief executive officer Jeremy Zimmer. “Richard brings a wealth of strategic, operational and creative leadership and experience to UTA,” said Zimmer. “He will be a great partner across the company, helping tell our story, and playing an essential role in UTA’s success.” UTA acquired management consulting firm MediaLink in December for $125 million.
