The Museum of Public Relations is presenting a free June 14 online event that will examine the effect Russian disinformation is having on the war in Ukraine. A panel of experts will look at how state-run campaigns are shaping world-wide perceptions of the war as well as discussing the overall impact propaganda has on public opinion. The panel participants are set to include DG Consulting founder David Gallagher; Pardee RAND Graduate School senior behavioral scientist Todd Helmus; Kyiv-based agency One Philosophy founder Nataliya Popovych; and Volodymyr Yermolenko, philosopher, author and coordinator of the UkraineWorld initiative at Internews. The program, which will run from noon to 1:30 p.m., is presented in collaboration with PRCA Americas, International Communication Consultancy Organization, and Ukraine Communication Support Network.

Diversity

The Diversity Action Alliance, a coalition of public relations and communications leaders, will host its second annual Diversity Gala, presented by Omnicom Public Relations Group, on June 15 from 5-10 p.m. ET at Gotham Hall, New York. The gala will showcase the work done by the public relations and communications industry to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the past year. It will be emceed by Laura Coates, author, CNN anchor, senior legal analyst and SiriusXM talk show host; and chaired by Azurée Montoute-Lewis, global head of talent management and diversity, equity & inclusion at Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Funds raised from the event will be used to support the DAA's continued efforts for a diverse, equitable and inclusive PR and communications industry. "We are grateful to all of our signatories, sponsors and supporters who know that our collective work is not over as we aim to have the industry reflect the diversity of the U.S. population by 2025," said DAA president Carmella Glover.

Muck Rack

Muck Rack is holding an online panel discussion of its recently released State of PR report on June 16 at 12:30 p.m. Among the report’s findings: More than half (53 percent) of PR pros work 40 or more hours week, and almost the same number (52 percent) say that getting responses from journalists is their biggest challenge. Joining Muck Rack CEO and co-founder Greg Galant on the panel will be Monday.com head of global communications Leah Walters; Rich Chen, director and head of public relations at Blind; and Golin executive director, EVP Laura Russo Bowser. Registrants who cannot make the live discussion will be able to access an on-demand recording of the event.
