The Museum of Public Relations is putting a spotlight on the contributions made to the PR industry by Native Americans and Indigenous People at a virtual event on November 3 at 6 pm. Hosted by Candace Hamana, who founded the Indigenous People's Public Relations Association in 2021, “The Growing Role of Native Americans in Public Relations” will look at how aspects of the field from storytelling to artistic heritage have been impacted by Native American and indigenous communicators. Speakers are set to include Tinhorn Consulting CEO April Tinhorn, augmented reality storyteller Jon Canyon and Happy Accidents! Media Production chief executive member Kelsey Lee. Event sponsors include the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Georgia, Amazon, Page, the Diversity Action Alliance and Muck Rack.

The Institute for Public Relations is sponsoring an Oct. 18 webinar on that will look at the issues facing communications pros who address ESG matters. “The State of ESG + Communications” will be led by APCO Worldwide senior director and global lead, climate and sustainability Heather McGeory, who has more than 20 years of experience working on climate change issues with business, governments, foundations, non-profits and multilateral institutions, and has also created projects and partnerships focused on social innovation and social justice.

The American Marketing Association San Diego Chapter is presenting an October 21 conference that will feature speakers from brands including Walt Disney Parks, Snap Inc. and Qualcomm discussing the industry’s future. "The Art of Marketing: The Future is WOW Conference" will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Knauss Center of Business Education building and the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice building on the University of San Diego campus. It will also be livestreamed to accommodate virtual attendees from across the country. Tickets also include entry to the opening conference reception the night before at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Attendees can choose conference sessions from four accelerated marketing education tracks: The Future is Now; Amplifying DEI; Like, Tweet, Snap, Tik … What’s Next?; and The Future is WOW.
