Atlanta PR firm Trevelino/Keller is organizing a crowd-sourced campaign to supply salt for areas of its ice and snow-beleaguered city where key non-profits operate.
Bracing for another winter blast this week, T/K is soliciting donations via Crowdrise to buy at least 50,000 pounds of salt to spread on city streets where shelters, food banks and the American Red Cross are housed.
"We felt it was our responsibility as a reputation management firm to make it clear to the country that we’re not a fragile, fair-weathered city of winter misfits," said Dean Trevelino. "The simple fact is, Atlanta, like any other city, would be brought to its knees without that precious mineral called salt. So we are asking the country to help us crowd-source a salt drive to meltdown Atlanta."
The city was crippled in a Jan. 28 winter storm that left commuters stranded on highways for hours. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has vowed to be better prepared for this week's onslaught.
