FTI Consulting appoints Leonor Díaz-Córdova as a managing director in the EMEA crisis and litigation communications offering within its strategic communications segment. Díaz-Córdova joins FTI from research, intelligence, campaign and advisory consultancy CT Group, where she served as group director of legal services. She has also held senior positions at the London Court of International Arbitration, where she worked on arbitration cases across a variety of sectors. At FTI, Díaz-Córdova will help law firms, litigation funders and corporate clients implement communications strategies to resolve international disputes. “I am confident she will play a key role in helping us deliver valuable insights for our clients at every stage of the disputes process, particularly in relation to international conflicts and arbitration matters,” said Juan Rivera, a senior managing director and head of FTI’s strategic communications segment in Spain.

Baretz+Brunelle brings on Xenia Kobylarz as a senior managing director in its New York office. Kobylarz was most recently director of communications at legal firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. She has also held senior marketing and communications posts at firms including Labaton Sucharow and King & Spalding. A former legal journalist, Kobylarz has reported for The American Lawyer and the Daily Journal. “Xenia is one of the most capable, talented and well-connected communications professionals in the legal industry,” said Baretz+Brunelle co-founder Spencer Baretz. “She will be extremely valuable to our clients and play an integral role in B+B’s continued expansion.”

SKDK names Pia Carusone, who was most recently lead strategist for Sen. Mark Kelly’s successful 2022 re-election bid, president of SKDK Political. Carusone also served as assistant secretary for public affairs in the Obama administration and was chief of staff for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. She succeeds Doug Thornell, who became SKDK’s chief executive officer at the beginning of this year. The agency has also promoted Oren Shur from managing director to partner and Liz Kenigsberg, head of its cybersecurity and technology practice, to managing director.
Brittney Basden, who led public affairs and advocacy partnerships at the Washington Post has joined Bully Pulpit International as a managing director.
