Suresh Balaji, who served as CMO for HSBC’s Asia-Pacific region, is joining Lloyds Banking Group, where he will take on the chief marketing officer role on Oct. 16.
Balaji was most recently global head of marketing & communications at Standard Chartered Bank, based in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the division’s efforts over consumer, private and business banking.
He previously spent 17 years at HSBC, holding various regional, country and global leadership roles. Before coming to HSBC, Balaji served in marketing and sales roles at WPP, GSK and United Breweries.
At Lloyds, based in the UK, he will oversee the group-wide brand, marketing and experience function, including such functions as creating and maintaining the Group’s portfolio of brands, developing marketing strategies, and designing customer experiences to promote business growth.
