Andy Weitz has joined the PGA Tour as chief marketing & communications officer and executive VP for investor relations.
His job is to position the PGA Tour brand for future investments, while promoting its strategy and performance to its stakeholders.
In the IR capacity, Weitz will handle messaging and strategy for PGA Tour Enterprises, a for-profit venture formed with an initial $1.5B outlay by the Strategic Sports Group.
A consortium of owners of US sports teams including Steve Cohen (New York Mets), John Henry (Boston Red Sox), Arthur Blank (Atlanta Falcons) and Mark Attanasio (Milwaukee Brewers) back the SSG. It may invest another $1.5B in the enterprise organization.
Weitz joins the PGA Tour from Aon financial services giant. During his nearly decade at Aon, Weitz integrated its worldwide marketing efforts and unified its global branding. In 2019, Aon established a marketing partnership with the PGA Tour.
Weitz also spent two and half years at Hill & Knowlton, where he served as US COO and co-leader of its global corporate advisory, and four years as senior VP at Marsh.
