Reterska most recently served as EVP, social impact and sustainability at Weber Shandwick, where she launched and led its global advisory of subject matter experts in business & society futures. At Burson, she leads the agency’s team of ESG and social impact specialists. Portugal was most recently EVP, business development at Edelman. Before that, she served in business development capacities with FCB Chicago and Pappageorge Haymes Partners. “Kasia and Emily are outstanding leaders with a deep understanding of the business imperative of building reputation for clients, whether by helping them manage the complexities of reporting responsibility metrics or by cutting to the heart of a potential client’s business challenge,” said Burson US CEO Craig Buchholz.

Motion promotes Terry Mertens to executive creative director, a newly created position at the agency. Mertens most recently served as VP, group creative director at Motion. Before that, he was group creative director at Plan B, leading the efforts of the creative department for more than 12 years. In his new role, Mertens will support new business efforts and talent recruitment, as well as continuing to be a client leader. “Terry’s approachable and collaborative work style, combined with his highly pragmatic, detail-oriented problem-solving skills makes him an ideal fit for this new role at Motion,” said Motion founder and CEO Kimberly Eberl.

George P. Johnson, a strategic experience marketing agency, hires Jenn Houston as executive director of sports activations, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Houston comes to GPJ from GMR Marketing, where she was global VP, growth. She was previously a founding member of The Post, a private membership network connecting athletes turned business leaders. In her new post, Houston will oversee the evolution of GPJ’s sports-related work with existing clients as well as being a key driver of the agency’s expansion. She will also be joining the Project Sports, Gaming and Entertainment Collective, a cross-agency specialty group run by GPJ’ s parent company, Project Worldwide. “With Jenn’s leadership, we will take GPJ’s experiential sports practice to the next level,” said GPJ president, Americas Fiona Bruder.
