CG Life brings on longtime AbelsonTaylor vet Jay Carter as EVP business development. Most recently, Carter launched Into the Wild Consulting, providing part-time consulting services to CG Life prior to joining the agency full-time. Before that, he was EVP business development at JUICE Pharma Worldwide. In over 35 years at AbelsonTaylor, his roles included leading business development and client services. At CG Life, Carter’s focus will be on the continued overall growth of the agency, including the advancement of its legacy life science business and its strategic expansion as AOR among biopharma companies. “Everyone who has worked with Jay or competed against him knows he is driven to win, but he does it with integrity and a relentless commitment to client success,” said CG Life CEO David Ormesher.

Educational publishing and services company Pearson hires Ginny Cartwright Ziegler as CMO, effective July 29. Ziegler joins Pearson from Accenture, where she was most recently CMO for North America, the company’s largest business. Prior posts during her 16-year career at the company included leading global teams supporting its cloud practice, as well as its cybersecurity and talent and organization businesses. At Pearson, Ziegler will focus on developing new marketing strategies (including infusing AI and other advanced technologies into customers’ journeys), identifying opportunities to scale Pearson’s businesses and advancing its brand and market position. “She is a disruptive innovator, a great people leader, and a partner magnet. With her creative ingenuity, the ability to connect dots and her deep Silicon Valley experience, she is a key addition to our executive team,” said Pearson CEO Omar Abbosh.

G2, a software marketplace, appoints Sydney Sloan as CMO. Sloan comes to G2 from compliance automation software company Drata, where she was its first CMO. She has also served as CMO of revenue workflow platform Salesloft, and information management solutions provider Alfresco, as well as holding several marketing leadership roles at Adobe. Sloan also serves as an advisor for Scale Venture Partners and a limited partner at Stage 2 Capital, advising founders and leaders on GTM strategy, brand, strategic partnerships, customer journey and employee culture. “Sydney’s experience in building and scaling go-to-market for SaaS businesses, coupled with her passion for mentorship and people development, make her a perfect fit for G2,” said G2 CEO and co-founder Godard Abel.
