Turkcell, which is Turkey’s leading mobile phone operator, has hired the Signal Group for media relations duties.
On July 8, Turkcell rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The company trades on the NYSE and Borsa Istanbul.
Bloomberg reported that Turkey’s sovereign wealth fund has had informal talks with potential buyers of its 26.2 percent of Turkcell, which aims to become a global data hub and end-to-end technology provider.
There is pushback against the sale by those who view Turkcell as a strategic national asset. It’s up to Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to decide the fate of Turkcell.
Signal Group’s Robert Bole, head of innovation and strategy, and Julian Graham, director and Portland Communications alum, handle Turkcell.
