Kristen Orthman

The Harris campaign is bringing on White House principal deputy communications director Kristen Orthman in a planning role that will coordinate across several departments, according to a report from NBC. Before working at the White House, Orthman was director of communications for the Democratic National Committee. She has also run communications for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and former US Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV). White House communications director Ben LaBolt called Orthman “a bedrock of the operation, capable of taking anything on, running a seamless process, and selflessly helping the team solve any challenge that came up” in an email to staff. In addition, White House counsel spokesman for oversight Ian Sams is heading to the Harris campaign staff as a senior spokesperson.
