Prior to the election, the firm’s work will include providing strategic advice and tactics for securing meetings with key government representatives and other stakeholders. Capitol Counsel will then be tasked with devising a plan for the first 100 days of the new Congress and administration, “including identifying any US engagement opportunities for Ontario.” The Capitol Counsel staffers handling work will include Republicans Jason Scism, a former aide to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA); David Bridges, a former tax counsel for Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY); Nick Bouknight, former top aide to former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); and Clint Robinson, a former George W. Bush administration official. Democrats working on the project include Jeff Carroll, a longtime aide to House Energy and Commerce ranking member Frank Pallone (D-NJ); former Obama White House and Biden 2020 official Rob Diamond; and Jonathan Kott, who served as an aide to Sens. Chris Coons (D-DR) and Joe Manchin (I-WV).
