The 27-year-old domestic partner of a powerful Massachusetts politician quit well-connected Regan Communications and blamed a string of stories about their relationship in the Boston Globe for his departure.

bryon heffnerBryon Heffner, 27, has been in a six-year relationship with Stan Rosenberg, the incoming president of the Bay State's Senate.

The Globe ran items about Hefner's social media rants against outgoing Senate president Therese Murray, tense dinner exchanges with another Democratic pol and a trip to a legislative conference in St. Thomas, according to a December 22 article in the paper.

Regan had reassigned Hefner to its Florida office, but he turned down the offer, according to a statement emailed to the Globe.

Hefner wrote that the Globe rejected his transfer to the Sunshine State because it is "not being far enough away, if I am still in a relationship with my partner of over six years."

Natasha Perez, chief of staff for 65-year-old Rosenberg, said he would neither comment about Hefner's resignation nor why he fingered the Globe.

George Regan said he has nothing to add to the Hefner situation.
