Bob GoldSan Pedro, CA’s Toberman Neighborhood Center, one of the longest-lasting nonprofit community centers in the Los Angeles area, has hired agency Bob Gold & Associates to head publicity efforts for its annual charity gala and fundraiser, to be held March 26 at the Long Beach Hyatt.

This year's event will honor the philanthropic and charitable efforts of former NFL wide receiver and six-time Pro Bowler Terrell “TO” Owens, who will receive a 2016 Toberman Legends Award.

Founded in 1903, the Toberman Neighborhood Center is a non-profit neighborhood center and philanthropic organization that provides childcare, education and social services to low-income Los Angeles-area residents. The oldest United Methodist mission in the western U.S., the center now serves more than 7,000 individuals each year. Located in San Pedro since 1937, the 113-year-old center is named after two-term former Los Angeles mayor James R. Toberman.

Attendees at the March gala will be able to meet Owens and hear about his “What TO Do Global Campaign,” an initiative that focuses on empowering and motivating youth. Former gala honorees include John Wooden, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bill Walton, James Worthy, Vin Scully, Louis Zamperini and Tommy Lasorda.
