MWWPR division Berk Communications and Marketing Group has been named agency of record for the Statler Hotel & Residences in downtown Dallas.

Opened in 1956, The Statler is a mid-twentieth century Dallas landmark, whose historic 14,500 square-foot music venue once hosted musical acts such as Elvis Presley, The Jackson 5 and Frank Sinatra. The 19-story hotel, which has stood vacant since 2001, is currently the site of a $175 million restoration project, whose concept was developed under the guidance of hospitality management company United Culinary Advisors. The new hotel will feature 161 guestrooms and suites as well as 220 residences, along with restaurants, meeting facilities, retail space and a live music venue. The new hotel, which will be managed by Hilton under its Curio Collection banner, is slated to open in November.

As AOR, Berk Communications is now charged with leading communications initiatives for The Statler’s relaunch and elevating awareness of its brand, which will include media relations outreach, as well as social media strategy development and PR support, entertainment programming and a forthcoming food and beverage concept. The account will be led by Berk travel and tourism vice president Alexandra Spang.

New York-based Berk, which specializes in lifestyle, entertainment, travel and hospitality, was founded in 1999.
