Andrea Carrothers, a former Porter Novelli food and nutrition VP, has joined food and nutrition communications and consulting company FoodMinds LLC, where she has been appointed senior vice president in that agency's San Francisco office.
She begins her new role on April 18.
Carrothers, a registered dietitian, since 2011 served as vice president, food, beverage and nutrition, in Porter Novelli’s Washington D.C. office, where she developed and directed communications programs for the Omnicom unit’s clients, including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, McDonald’s USA, Alliance for Potato Research and Education, Nature Made and the Almond Board of California.
Prior to her time at PN, Carrothers was a nutrition communications manager at consumer packaged food company WhiteWave Foods, where she directed healthcare professional outreach efforts and developed nutrition strategy for the Silk and Horizon Organic brands. She was also formerly a senior technical sales representative at GTC Nutrition, as well as a regional account manager at Novartis Medical Nutrition.
Carrothers is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and previously served as President of the Colorado Dietetic Association and on the executive committees of the Dietitians in Business and Communications and Food and Culinary Professionals practice groups. She is the incoming FCP marketing and communications chair.
Carrothers will now help lead FoodMinds’ existing and new client strategies, and will focus on advancing the firm’s leadership in the food/technology and nutrition/sustainability sectors. She will work with brands, trade associations and industry leaders to manage and grow client relationships, supervise teams and contribute to new business development. She will also oversee FoodMinds client account Hass Avocado Board.
Chicago-headquartered FoodMinds in 2015 accounted for nearly $8.3 million in food-related net fees, according to O'Dwyer's rankings of PR firms, making the company one of the top-five firms ranked in this category.
