Bob Finnerty, chief communications officer for Rochester Institute of Technology, is shifting to Illinois Institute of Technology as VP of external affairs in early December.
A former reporter, Finnerty spent the past 14 years at RIT heading internal and external communications. He is a former editor for Gannett's Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Finnerty, a Purdue grad, takes up the post overseeing marketing and communications, community affairs, outreach and external affairs on Dec. 5.
Chicago-based IIT counts nearly 8,000 students.
