Qorvis Communications is providing PR counsel to Bahrain, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East, under a subcontract with Bell Pottinger.
The D.C.-based firm reports to Matthew Bushnell, a managing director at BP.
Bahrain has been busy developing its financial sector to better compete with neighborhood rivals Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The island state is home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
Bahrain does face an active insurgency from its Shiite minority.
Qorvis has a similar subcontract arrangement with BP for Sri Lanka, which has been criticized for a heavy-handed crackdown against former rebels. Qorvis collected just under $100K for the Sri Lanka representation during the six-month period ended April.
Saudi Arabia remains Qorvis' biggest foreign account. It generated $417,000 of the $1.2M that Qorvis collected from foreigners during its latest reporting period.
