Alex Conant, who was press spokesperson for the Tim Pawlenty's presidential bid, will become press secretary for Florida Republican Marco Rubio on Oct. 3.
Previously, Conant worked for Sen. John Thune, served as regional spokesperson for the Bush II administration and handled communications duties for the Republican National Committee.
In a statement, Rubio called Conant a “skilled addition that will help keep Floridians informed about the important work we're doing on their behalf.”
Conant will work with Rubio's communications director Alex Burgos.
The 40-year-old Rubio, who took office last year, is considered a future Republican presidential or vice presidential candidate.
