President Barack Obama, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg are politicians on the list. Ex-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates rounds out the roster.
The rankings were compiled with data from Klout, the social media analytics firm. The data gauged the top 10 political heavyweights in the Group of 20 nations.
The U.S. influencers average 2.4M followers and received an average 146,700 mentions and 96,100 re-tweets.
Mark Penn, B-M CEO, said in a statement that Twitter “has become a powerful platform for political debate in the U.S.”
The influencers can use the micro-blogging site to “shape public opinion, raise grassroots support and call their followers to action,” he said.
