She had been running her own firm, where she launched the “Partners for Our Children” venture with the University of Washington's Dept. of School and Health Services to improve child welfare.
Berg also handled the Global Team for Local Initiatives and The Mockingbird Society, foster care advocacy organization.
Earlier, she did communications for northwest institutions such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Puget Sound Chapter of the Komen for the Cure.
Tim Fry, chief of WS/Seattle, calls Berg “a strong leader with a proven track record of success and deep relationships within the healthcare field.”
Twenty percent of Seattle's jobs are tied to healthcare.
