President Obama’s re-election bid, Obama for America, has tapped Homeland Security PA chief and former Burson-Marsteller staffer Brent Colburn as communications director, starting in March.
Colburn has been Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at DHS for the past year and led external affairs for the Federal Emergency Management Agency prior to that.
He previously handled communications for the Obama campaign in Michigan in 2008 and was communications director for Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) around a stint as a manager in Burson-Marsteller’s issues advocacy unit in D.C.
The Obama campaign last April tapped Ben LaBolt and Katie Hogan as press secretary and deputy PS.
