PR counselor Bob Dilenschneider defended embattled media mogul Rupert Murdoch in an appearance on Murdoch's Fox News Channel.
"For some reason the public and media keep going over this thing again and again," he said. "It's a little bit too much. But I think the bigger issue is really hacking and how are we as a public going to protect ourselves and protect our privacy and deal with it. And I would also say, by the way, Citigroup, a great bank, Bank of America, a great bank. Are they getting the same amount of attention for hacking that took place less than a year ago that News Corp. is getting today?"
Dilenschneider, who said "all the right things have been done" by News Corp. over the hacking issue, suggested the public should be focused on the larger problem of hacking.
"We've got major problems in the country," he said. "John Boehner is dealing with tough problems, the president is dealing with tough problems. We have problems with the states and we're dealing with this issue in London that took place in London over a decade ago and I don't quite understand it."
