Fusion, the joint cable network venture of ABC and Univision set to launch in October, has programmed ABC News' David Ford as VP of corporate communications, based in Miami.

david fordFord led media relations for "World News with Diane Sawyer," ABC's Washington bureau and its investigative team as senior publicity director.

At Fusion, he will lead internal and external communications and serve as the network's primary media contact, starting in mid-September.

Univision executive VP and interim Fusion president Beau Ferrari announced Ford's appointment in a memo released today, noting Ford's role promoting Sawyer's prime-time specials and managing media relations for ABC's election coverage.

Ford previously was a marketing coordinator at Wenner Media.

Sandra Ramos is communications coordinator under Ford at Fusion, which is slated to launch on Oct. 28.

ABC and Univision said earlier this month that the 24-hour English-language Fusion network would include news, satire and original series aimed at Latinos.
