PR agencies grew 8.2% on average last year with the largest increase – 13.1% – among mid-to-large-size firms in the $10M-$25M range, according to StevensGouldPincus.

Firms in the $3M-$10M range, which logged average net revenues of $5.5M, grew by 10.8%, while small firms under $3M, averaging $1.7M in revenues, were below average at 5% growth for the year, SGP reports in its annual survey of 218 firms in the U.S. and Canada. The largest firms in the survey – those topping $25M – posted 4.1% on average net revenues of $54.4M.

Broken down geographically, the southwest and southeast led the charge with 17.4% and 16.8% growth, respectively. The 52 New York firms in the survey showed average growth of 5.5% while 17 D.C.-area firms produced only a 1.1% average growth. Northern California's tech hotbed showed a robust 14.4% average increase, while southern California firms recorded a 10.5% boost.

In the Midwest, SGP's second largest sample of firms with 41, the survey showed 10.4% average revenue growth.
