Jonathan Sanford, communications director for Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Ark.), who made a surprise announcement this week that the won't run for re-election, has taken the top PR post at the Organization for International Investment in Washington.

oiiSanford, a former deputy press secretary for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, will represent the U.S. subsidiaries of overseas corporations as he takes the communications director slot at OFII.

Members of the trade group, which says its members are "insourcing" companies, include GlaxoSmithKlne, Sanofi, SAP America, Kia motor Corp., BHP Billiton and Nissan, among scores of others that say they employ 5.6M Americans and add $736B to the U.S. economy each year.

Rep. Griffin, who has young children, rode the 2010 Republican wave to take over a Democratic House seat but shocked many in his party with his decision this week not to run for a third term.
