Jefferson Waterman International is fronting the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement rebel group that has been fighting for independence for the Darfur region of Sudan.

JEM and the Khartoum government signed a ceasefire agreement in February, a deal that was brokered by the African Union, United Nations and Qatar. The parties agreed to negotiate a long-term settlement of the situation in Darfur.

JWI handles Washington, media, academic and think tank outreach for JEM.

The agreement between JEM and JWI also includes an “investment promotion relationship” clause to support the political aspiration of JEM in the Sudan.

That “memorandum of understanding” grants JWI exclusivity in representing JEM’s PA and other programs in the U.S.

The firm, which received a $5K good faith payment in February, shifts to a  $20K a month retainer basis on May 1.
