The California pension giant known as CalSTRS has stuck with Edelman and Lucas Public Affairs after a review of its PR and PA account started in late April.

The California State Teachers' Retirement System on June 11 moved to award a new pact with a different focus than the last that could span up to five years to the incumbent firms.

Lucas is the firm of Porter Novelli and Schwarzenegger administration alum Donna Lucas. The duo won a review for a base $600K-a-year pact in 2010 that paid out $975K.

The RFP covered reputation, issues and crisis management, government relations, social media and PR consulting, among related tasks, a wider scope than the firms' previous assignment, which came after the fund was battered from the financial crisis and moved to burnish its image among the public, media and government.
