Rick Santorum, former Pennsylvania and Republican presidential candidate, has joined EchoLight Studios as president.

rick santorumDallas-based EchoLight will finance and produce faith and family films. Its first release, "The Redemption of Henry Myers," is slated for the fall. It’s a western about the redemption of a former bank robber.

 Santorum first mentioned his new job during the "The Mike Huckabee Show" on June 22.

He's "jumped in with both feet," and sees movie-making’s potential to offer "strength and be a light for people who want to be uplifted and reinforced in their values."

EchoLight says it has a growing pipeline of projects from upcoming stars and directors in the faith and family category.

It also has a multi-million deal to produce films from Liberty University's cinematic arts program.

Founded in 1971 by the late evangelical Jerry Falwell, LU describes its mission as "training champions for Christ." Jerry Falwell, Jr. is the college’s chancellor.
