Al Jazeera America will pull the plug on its live news broadcasting tonight after a three-year run.

Al Jazeera AmericaThe network, owned by Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network, said its final live broadcast at 6 p.m. ET will showcase the contributions of its journalists since launching in 2013.

"Al Jazeera America has the most talented and diverse team any media organization could wish for" CEO Al Anstey and president KAt O'Brian wrote to staff in a memo released by the network. "So, as we enter our final day, we would like to pass on our sincere thanks, appreciation, and respect for your amazing work, and for your commitment to those we cover."

AJA, which struggled in the cable news ratings wars, had 12 bureaus in the US at its peak.
