NY Times free election accessThe New York Times has opened up NYTimes.com for 72 hours beginning Monday morning at 12:01 ET and lasting until 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

O’Dwyer’s received the email this morning pitching us that the next few days will be “historic” and the free access will let us experience “the type of original journalism” the paper strives for.

Mobile news apps are free to download and users can sign up for breaking news notifications. Livestream of election coverage can be found on The Times’s Facebook page.

“Independent journalism is crucial to democracy and I believe there is no better time to show readers the type of original journalism The New York Times creates every day,” Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., publisher of The New York Times, said.
