Brownsville, Texas has issued an RFP for agencies that can provide marketing and advertising services to raise awareness of Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport as a year-round travel destination for those visiting the Lower Rio Grande Valley as well as nearby resort destination South Padre Island.

Brownsville

The Cameron County city, which sits near the Mexico border on Texas’ western Gulf Coast, shares an airport with neighboring South Padre Island. The Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport, which is owned and operated by the city of Brownsville, currently sees two operating airlines (American Airlines and United Airlines) providing daily, year-round nonstop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, as well as seasonal nonstop flights to Denver and Chicago.

Construction is currently underway on a new 91,000 square-foot passenger terminal facility which will boost capacity, attract additional carriers, improve customer experiences and better serve the travel needs of residents and visitors.

The city wants to promote the airport and its various services in an effort to boost its use among local and regional airline travelers as well as an origination point among U.S. and international cargo operators whose destination is the Lower Rio Grande Valley.

Scope of the services required may include—but isn’t limited to—the creation of original content for digital, video, radio and web; identifying and providing a demographic analysis of the Airport’s trade area and local community; advertising for print, social media, web, radio, television and billboard (outdoor); planning and promotion of events at and sponsored by the Airport, preparing presentations for meetings and other purposes; and providing support to Airport staff in planning and events that increase the Airport’s visibility and boost community engagement.

The contract’s primary term runs for the next five fiscal years, ending on September 30th, 2024 with the option of two additional two-year terms at the city’s discretion.
