New York-based firm Evins Communications has been named PR and marketing agency of record for Oxford, Mississippi-based chef John Currence.

James Beard award-winning chef Currence is the owner of the City Grocery Restaurant Group, which includes Oxford flagship City Grocery, which has been in operation since 1992, as well as restaurants Ajax Diner, Bouré, Kalo’s and Big Bad Breakfast, among others.
Currence has appeared on “Top Chef Masters” and Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown,” and is the author of three cookbooks. In 2009 he was the winner of Charleston Food and Wine Festival’s Iron Chef Challenge.
As AOR, Evins will provide PR and event support for all of chef Currence’s activities, including City Grocery Restaurant Group’s forthcoming expansion into new cities, as well as the launch of his most recent cookbook Big Bad Breakfast. The firm will also support Currence’s ongoing advocacy efforts with non-profit organizations. Drew Tybus, Evins VP and food, wine & spirits division director, will lead the account.
