BackBay Communications, which focuses on the financial sector, has promoted Jen Dowd to chief operating officer. The newly created role was prompted by the firm’s steady growth since its founding in 2005.

Dowd, who joined the firm in 2007, has worked with global asset management, private equity and financial technology clients such as Adams Funds, Baird Capital, Eagle Investment Systems, Fiduciary Trust Company, Graycliff Partners (formerly HSBC Capital), Hancock Capital, HarbourVest Partners, Murray Devine, Pamlico Capital (formerly Wachovia Capital Partners), Quad-C Management, Ridgemont Equity Partners (formerly Banc of America Capital Investors), and Thompson Street Capital.
As COO, Dowd will work on client strategy and implementation as well as partner with senior leadership on business development and marketing.
