paul sloanPaul Sloan, editor-in-chief of tech pub CNET News, has moved to the PR side as VP of corporate communications for coupons.com, the Silicon Valley company expected to go public this year.

Sloan was with the CBS Interactive property for the past four years after New York-based stints at Fortune Magazine and CNN. He earlier reported for U.S. News & World Report, Bloomberg News, NPR and the Chicago Tribune.

Coupons.com CEO and co-founder Steven Boal said he has known Sloan "for years," calling him "one of the most respected journalists in the industry and has deep understanding of business, technology as well as all forms of media."

The Mountain View-based company was formed in 1998 and takes a commission when consumers download coupons. Bloomberg News said a $200M investment in 2011 valued the company at $1B as it competes with publicly traded RetailMeNot and Ebates Shopping.com, which is also eying a public offering.
