peter tabackPeter Taback, VP of external affairs and communications for The New School, moved to Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health on Jan. 21 in its top communications post.

Taback, a PhD in English who taught at City College and New York University, takes the title of chief communications officer at Mailman, a 92-year-old institution renamed in 1999 after Joseph Mailman, an investor and philanthropist.

He earned public health credentials as VP of communications and marketing at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and director of communications for amfAR, the global non-profit focused on AIDS research. He moved to The New School in 2009.

He also worked media relations at NYU.
