The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's PR has racked up a $782K tab with Edelman, reports the News & Observer.
Edelman was hired by the scandal-plagued school in May amid a revamp of its communications operation.
The school on Oct. 22 released an outside report detailing a "shadow curriculum" for athletes over a period of nearly 20 years, including no-show classes and independent studies. The investigation went further than previous university admissions, which focused on a single professor.
FleishmanHillard previously worked the crisis beat at UNC from 2012-13.
UNC said the PR billings are not coming from taxpayer funds.
Edelman has worked high-profile college crisis assignments including Penn State and Duke University.
