Erin Donovan-Boyle, who is director of outreach for Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed, has been named executive director of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, which is the second biggest in the Ocean State.

She'll succeed Jody Sullivan, who is retiring June 15.

Donovan-Boyle also worked as campaign manager for RI Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, served as VP of Mayforth Group, held the executive slot at Ocean State Tall Ship and was project manager of Newport County Development Council.

Ed Lopes, chairman of the chamber, praised the new hire's "depth of knowledge of the community," government experience and financial savvy.

More than 1,100 companies with a combined 50K work force are members of the chamber.
