Susan Finco, president of Leonard & Finco PR, is slated to join the seven-member executive committee of the NFL's Green Bay Packers, the first woman on the publicly owned team's governing body.

susan fincoFinco, a board member of the Packers since 2000 who has chaired its community relations committee and worked for the team through her Green Bay PR firm, will succeed longtime executive committee member Larry Wyers, the CEO of Integrys Energy Group who is retiring from the committee.

The Packers' executive committee runs its non-football operations.

Finco is a former TV news anchor who moved to PR with L&F in 1992.

Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy praised Finco's work on the committee relations committee, as well as her PR and broadcast experience. "We are in the news a lot," he told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "Broadcast is important."

Finco is expected to be voted onto the board at the team's annual shareholders' meeting July 28.

The Packers, one of the NFL's most successful and oldest franchises, count more than 350,000 shareholders.
