Havas PR has appointed Linda Descano, a former Citi executive, to the position of executive vice president. She’ll work out of the Havas unit’s Providence, RI, office.
Descano served as managing director and global head of content marketing and social media for Citi, which she joined in 2012. She was also formerly President of New York Women in Communications. She’ll report to Havas PR CEO and Global Collective chair Marian Salzman.
"Linda is world-class at building and buoying a team, and we are psyched to have her captain our ship in Providence," Salzman said in a statement.
The appointment preceded the PR agency’s recent Rhode Island Commerce Corporation account win. The agency’s New England hub was one of three firms chosen to develop and execute a $4.5 million tourism campaign for the state, out of more than 50 agencies that applied for the contract. RI governor Gina Raimondo has made the campaign a key piece of her economic development strategy.
Havas PR, the public relations arm owned by the French ad/PR holding company that bears the same name, is headquartered in New York and holds additional offices in Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Providence.
